Her father, William F. Davis, was a civil engineer and a church deacon. She has an older brother named Danforth (Dan) Davis.

Geena became interested in music at a young age. She learned to play the piano and the flute. As a teenager, she also played the organ at her local church.

During high school, she was a cheerleader and later became the cheer captain. She studied at Wareham High School.
